In 2015, Misfit Manor Dog Rescue Society (MMDRS) was founded by a group of passionate, like-minded rescuers. Each with years of experience and a shared concern: dogs with special medical or senior care needs were being overlooked, and very few resources existed to support them. Veterinary clinics were reaching out to us directly, desperate to find help for dogs that needed more than basic care. Dogs facing complex medical challenges, chronic conditions, or the hardships of old age. These were the forgotten ones. But we saw their worth.
MMDRS was created in response. A unique, specialized rescue focused entirely on those who needed more time, more care, and more understanding. Our mission is to step in when others canât, providing immediate or long-term medical support, emotional rehabilitation, and a safe place for dogs to heal.
Based in Nova Scotia, we are a foster-based rescue. These brave underdogs often face extra challenges, but with our dedicated team of experienced fosters, they get the individualized care, attention, and love they truly deserve.
Our small-scale, hands-on approach allows us to fully assess, rehabilitate, and support each dog on their journey to health and happiness. Because we focus on quality over quantity, each Misfit receives a tailored plan that helps them thrive and ultimately prepares them for a forever home that understands and embraces their unique needs.
